System not cooling, not heating, or making strange noises? Call (415) 915-9945 for HVAC repair in San Francisco. We’ll diagnose the issue and give you a clear estimate before any work starts.
When you need heating or cooling repair, you want a company that can identify the actual issue and explain the available options.
Here’s why:
For example, poor cooling may be caused by an airflow issue, an electrical problem, a dirty coil, or a failing component. A proper diagnosis helps identify the cause before any repair is recommended.
Our technicians inspect the system, explain what they find, and recommend repairs based on the cause of the problem.
Our experienced and certified technicians deliver professional HVAC repair in San Francisco to get your system back up and running.
Common issues we repair include but are not limited to:
Insufficient cooling is often caused by a thermostat setting, a dirty condenser coil, a frozen evaporator coil, or less commonly a failed compressor.
No heat can be caused by thermostat or airflow issues, an ignition or flame-sensing problem in a gas furnace, or an electrical or control issue. Heat pumps may also have refrigerant, defrost, or component-related problems.
Is your system not starting? It could be dead thermostat batteries, a tripped breaker, a bad capacitor or a tripped safety switch.
Airflow problems are a common issue we deal with as an HVAC repair company. They are often caused by a dirty air filter, ductwork leaks, blocked vents, or a failed blower motor. We also repair and modify ductwork when leaks, restrictions, or damaged sections are affecting airflow.
Unusual noises can be caused by loose components, a failing motor, or other mechanical issues. Musty odors may point to moisture or drainage problems, while burning or electrical odors should be addressed promptly.
Frequent cycling or unusually long run times can be related to airflow restrictions, thermostat or control problems, electrical component issues, refrigerant-related problems, or system sizing.
As an HVAC repair company in San Francisco, we service central AC, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits.
We explain the issue, recommend the repair, and provide an estimate before work begins.

Our experience with Freon HVAC has been exceptional for a full panel upgrade to 200 amps and installation of a new Mitsubishi mini-split system in an old house. We took quotes from 4 different top rated hvac providers in the San Jose area, before deciding to go with Freon. I appreciated the honesty and detailed analysis of our needs by Slava when he first showed up to do an estimate. He asked a ton of questions, checked the house for existing setup, wiring, possibilities, and discussed multiple possibilities including ducted, gas, hybrid, and heat pump only. Once we decided to go with a specific type of configuration, he gave us multiple options. Their pricing was competitive and while it took forever for PGE to get to the wiring/transformer upgrade, Freon's team worked with them patiently to meet our needs. Special thanks to Jessica for regular follow ups with PGE and us. Once PGE scheduled the wiring upgrade (after 3 months), Freon's team was prompt and did a very clean install including all internal wiring and drainage work. They ensured city inspection was scheduled promptly and addressed all city concerns for a quick approval. I have not dealt with a more professional and competent crew in this area in a very long time. Would love to do business with them again.![]()

I usually doubt perfect 5-star ratings, but Freon completely earned theirs. My AC/heater combo unit broke, and every other company told me I needed a total replacement, quoting me between $9k and $12k. Freon came out to inspect it, and later that day, they gave me a quote for just $3,000 to repair it. I signed the contract that night, and they were back to do the work just 5 days later on June 19th. The tech replaced the compressor to get it running, but didn't stop there. He thoroughly tested the system, caught a power issue, and replaced the compressor relay and expansion valve to ensure the unit wouldn't break down again. Outstanding service. I'm finally set for the summer and winter. They deserve every single star!![]()

The issue could be a thermostat or control problem, a dirty air filter or condenser coil, restricted airflow, a refrigerant leak, an electrical issue, or a compressor problem. Ductwork problems can also affect cooling. We diagnose the cause and recommend the appropriate repair.
A system that is not heating can have different causes depending on the equipment. Furnaces may have ignition, thermostat, airflow, or blower issues. Heat pumps can have refrigerant, electrical, defrost, or control problems. For heating and cooling repair in San Francisco, our technicians pinpoint the cause and recommend the right repair.
Short cycling means your system starts and stops more often than it should. A dirty air filter, thermostat issue, electrical failure, refrigerant problem, or improper system sizing may be the cause. It also wastes energy and puts extra wear on components. Have the system checked before the issue becomes more involved.
Before scheduling service, check that the thermostat has power and fresh batteries, if applicable. Also check whether the breaker has tripped or the system was turned off accidentally. If those basic checks do not resolve the issue, schedule an HVAC diagnostic visit to identify the cause.
Independent cost data for San Francisco puts the average furnace repair at about $504, with most repairs ranging from $178 to $866. HVAC repair costs can vary significantly depending on the type of system, the part involved, and the complexity of the work.
As a local HVAC repair company, NEON charges $59 for a diagnostic visit. Our technician identifies the issue and provides the exact repair price on site before any work begins. If you move forward with the repair, the $59 diagnostic fee is credited toward the cost.
Most straightforward repairs can be handled in one visit. Bigger repairs may take several hours. If we need to order a part, a return visit may be necessary. We’ll give you a clear timeline after we diagnose the issue.
Our techs inspect your system to find the source of the problem. The visit may include checking airflow, electrical components, controls, and the refrigerant system. We walk you through what we find, explain your repair options, and provide an estimate before any work begins..
